Elopement in the Cairngorms

Elegant, Intimate Scottish Highlands Elopement in the Cairngorms

Highlands Elopement in the Cairngorms is a one-of-a-kind experience. A wedding day that truly feels special. The Cairngorms are beautiful national park, and I love coming back for elopement weddings as a Scottish Elopement Photographer. This massive area of Scotland spreads across the eastern Scottish Highlands. This rugged, wild area, with its woodlands, mountains, and many lochs, is a slightly undiscovered part of Scotland. Exploring the Cairngorms lets you connect with the wild Scottish landscape and celebrate the outdoors your way.

Glenshee Cairngorms Elopement

Maurice and Sophie’s Elegant, Emotional Elopement in the Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are the largest national park in the United Kingdom, home to Ben Macdui munro, the highest point in the centre.

Sophie and Maurice found a very quiet, charming corner for their elopement in the Cairngorms – Muir of Dinnet. The drive there is no less spectacular, through Glenshee Ski Centre, adorable little Scottish villages and towns like Braemar. Maurice and Sophie drove up here from Dublin in an old Land Cruiser with their beloved dog, Buachaill. All three spent time in Braemar’s luxurious Fife Arms Hotel before heading into the wild for their wedding day.

Muir of Dinnet Ceremony

We chose a spectacular viewpoint over Loch Kinord for the wedding ceremony spot – a short hike up to the hill from the Muir of Dinnet car park. Buachaill carried Maurice and Sophie’s wedding rings. Among trees, they chose a distinctive tradition. Water Pouring Ceremony (Pouring water over their hands from Ireland’s local lake)

Sophie and Maurice read emotional vows and exchanged wedding rings on a clear, sunny day. A cool morning in early Spring in the Scottish Highlands, where mountain peaks were still snowy – a truly lovely day for Elopement in the Cairngorms.

Also worth mentioning, it was so lovely to meet Gillian Robertson and her husband for the first time. This humanist celebrant guided Sophie and Maurice gently and conducted the marriage.

The Cairngorms Woodland Wandering

After the wedding ceremony, we went for a hike in the woods up to the spectacular Burn o’ Vat mountain stream. Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve is rich in woodlands and wetlands, and we felt connected to nature. The songbirds, the gentle light piercing through the trees, and the quiet humming of the wind and streams. It was a magical Elopement in the Cairngorms.

Photographing Elopements in the Cairngorms has allowed me to witness some unforgettable moments. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and get open to your emotions.
